Skateboarding. Inc popped up in the International sporting market in 80s last century. But skateboarding was a small group and not big enough to draw interests from large sneaker companies like Nike and Adidas. This provides good opportunity for the relative small company to seize the skateboarding market. In the 1980s Nike Company never paid attention to the skateboarding market that was struggle for the basketball shoes territory.
In 1990 the skateboarding shoes began to come into prominence and the skate shoes technology had improved vastly. The DC shoes Company incorporated plastic eyelet, stronger fabrics and other popular culture. In 95s, the skateboarding shoes rise into mainstream. Their development was strongly inspired by the growing demands of skateboarding. Since then Nike Company begin to re-enter the market by re-release many of its older shoes in early 90s.
In 21 century, Nike SB had risen as a great successful SB company by signing some famous skateboarders. Due to the high prices, people would highly unlikely wear these shoes for skateboarding cause these activities would destroy the shoes quickly.
Since the release of Nike SB, some dispute has begun to surround their suspicious motives. In September 2004, the punk band Minor thread had criticized Nike seriously for misusing their image and text from their self-titled album Minor Threat. On November the same year, Nike official website posted an apology to Minor Thread. They announced that the designers were actually both Minor Thread and Skateboarders fans and they do that totally out of respect.
